Streaming on Twitch

by lshoupon October 19, 2020October 19, 2020Leave a Comment on Streaming on Twitch

I’ve been streaming on Twitch for about four months now and really enjoying it. It’s a very different experience than making art in a cafe, in a garden, or alone at home. First of all, it makes you think about what you are going to create. That sounds obvious, but for someone who creates rather …

  • The prompt for Day Two of #MendMarch2021 is "Your Kit" which I assume means your mending kit. Others have mentioned that they have mending supplies throughout the house and I am no different. I used to have a mobile sewing/art bag at the ready, but since about a year ago when I stopped doing art in public I unpacked my bag and put the supplies at arm's reach. Two of the three pictures here depict my tray of sewing supplies including scissors, thimbles, chatelaine, seam ripper, magnifying glass, and so on. The remaining photo shows my long journey with using up the thread samples that found their way into my life. After using over 100 of them, I wrapped the remaining thread on used gift cards (also used for painting) and stored them in a dish. These are really easy to carry, so I may just keep this system after I use these up. #mendmarch2021 #mending #toolsofthetrade #toolsofthetradetuesday #sewingtools #sewingscissors #thread #fixit #makeitwork #stitching #stitchbystitch
  • The first day of March! Whew, there is so much happening in March - #mendmarch #NationalCraftMonth #nationalwomensmonth and so much more. I probably won't cover them all equally, but I do want to show up for Mend March this year. If you haven't heard of it, check out the hashtag. Mend March celebrates the mending of clothes and all the benefits that comes with that. Today is the first day and the prompt is "Hello". I figured I haven't shown a picture of myself or done self-introduction for quite a while. So I thought I'd say 5 things about me. ⁣
1. I am a mixed media fiber artist. Journals, papermaking, sewing, embroidery, mending and so much more. ⁣
2. I love my collected materials, but am trying to let go and use them. The photo shows me clutching a bottle of vintage mother of pearl buttons. ⁣
3. I have been intrigued by visible mending and am eager to try to expand my skills. ⁣
4. I am fond of the color pink. (That is an understatement.)⁣
5. I love a good cup of tea. Preferably milk tea with sugar. With a piece of cake or perhaps a scone. ⁣
Thank you to Kate Sekules (@visiblemend) for this challenge and so much inspiration. I just finished her book on mending and found it informative, inspiring and, sometimes, hilarious. She has quite a way with words. #selfie #selfintroduction #letmeintroducemyself #mending #fixingholes #visiblemending #makeitwork #renew #takecareof #embellish #mendmarch2021
  • Today is the last day of National Embroidery Month. Mashing up embroidery and other forms of art has been exhilarating. Here you see a digital piece I created by layering other digital pieces I have done including embroidery. I'm enjoying this too. My view on the way to organize visual elements has stretched this month and I am grateful. #nationalembroiderymonth #embroidery #digitalart #digitalembroidery #mixedmedia #embroideryart #embroidered #roses #mashup #digital #digitalcollage #collageart #collageartist #collage #remix
  • Layer on layer on layer on layer. Just the way I like it. There was the moon so why not add stars I asked myself. We are almost one time around the moon again. What will March hold? #nationalembroiderymonth #embroidery #mixedmedia #needlework #mixedmediaart #stitching #stitch #embroideryart #handembroidery #stitchbystitch #paperandstitch #collage
