Dyeing Paper with Tea (Reposted from January) How would a mixed media artist celebrate National Hot Tea Month without dying paper with tea? I can’t imagine. The question remained which method should I use? Well, why choose? I would just try them all. First cycle of dyeing: 6 bargain grade tea bags Pour 4 cups …

  • Was looking through my stack of unfinished journals and came across the journal I made to explore neutral - mostly beige. I left off in it as it was too much of a stretch at the time. Picked it up and this happened. I’m making peace with colors that are not pink. #artjournal #artjournaling #journal #mixedmedia #mixedmediaart #handmadejournal #byhand #neutralshades #neutrals #artistsoninstagram
  • Collage of acanthus leaf in my art journal. So many ways to portray any subject and it’s fun to try them and see which fits best. #artjournal #artjournaling #mixedmediaart #mixedmediaartist #acanthus #artistsoninstagram #artistsofinstagram #collage #collageartist
  • Seems like the gelli printing obsession isn’t abating at all. The funny thing is that those leaves used one day are perfectly usable again the next day with added body and color. This makes for really interesting color combinations. Some of yesterday’s paint finds it’s way onto today’s print. And I won’t even fo into what happens if you use it for a week. #gelliprinting #gelliplate #monoprinting #inspiredbynature #leafprints #color
  • Using feathers and foliage on the gelli plate yields such interesting prints. I love the colors that emerge as you use the same foliage/feathers over and over. At some point the layers of paint on the foliage rivals the layers on the gelli plate and they peel off onto the print. It never ceases to delight and amuse me. The leaf I used in this print is one we always called nature’s s band aid. It has an anti inflammatory property and is great to apply to the scrapes of childhood play. I have often seen children so shocked at the mere thought of it that they stop crying. #gelliplateprinting #gelliprinting #monoprint #monoprinting #natureprinting #pattern #patternedpaper #handprinted #acrylic #leaf
  • I’ve been doing some gelli printing lately and having so much fun. A few leaves gathered from outside our door led to hours of printing fun. So much you can do with them. #gelliprinting #gelliprint #monoprint #monoprinting #funwithpaint #collagefodder #makersgonnamake
