Stenciled Boho Clutch

by lshoupupdated on September 17, 2018September 18, 20186 Comments on Stenciled Boho Clutch

Stenciling on fabric!  If you have been following my Instagram feed you will know about the piece of fabric that my sister and I have been passing back and forth between us for decades. This fabric was bought at a dollar a yard shop when I was in college. Back then, if it was cotton …

Boho Boquet Art Journal Page

by lshoupupdated on May 21, 2022July 27, 20186 Comments on Boho Boquet Art Journal Page

I love Gwen’s new stencils. I love her old stencils. I love the fact that she’ll probably have more stencils in the future. (I don’t have any inside information, but I can’t imagine a world in which this is not the case.) Not only do I love her stencils, but I love printing them on …

Stenciled Origami Purses

by lshoupupdated on June 11, 2018June 11, 20182 Comments on Stenciled Origami Purses

I have a tutorial showing how to make these purses on the Arnold Grummer Design Team Blog These coin purses are so fun to make and use. I was always fascinated by the one I received as a gift when I was a child. The back side is just as cute as the front. …

Longing – An Art Journal Page

by lshoupupdated on May 22, 2018May 24, 20182 Comments on Longing – An Art Journal Page

This journal spread was an expression of longing. “What are you longing for?” you might ask. What do we all long for? Longing for things that are past or improbable or somehow out of reach. The feeling is far from unique. The illustration I chose does not have to be interpreted as longing, but it …

Bohemian Flower Pot

by lshoupupdated on May 19, 2018May 19, 20184 Comments on Bohemian Flower Pot

Every spring I get excited about growing things. Fresh leaves. Plants at the grocery store, home repair store, roadside stands and sell everything discount shops. Every year I get the bug. Buy some plants. Well, that’s about it. So I am the least likely person you will ever ask to housesit your plants. Or manage your …

Boho Meets Boro Bag

by lshoupupdated on April 28, 2018April 28, 20188 Comments on Boho Meets Boro Bag

I love Bohemian style. Years ago a guy with a green mohawk taunted me by saying with a sneer “You’re so Boho!” I laughed because I didn’t think that was an insult. In fact, I wore it as a badge of honor. Boho is a style that I love.   Shabby Chic collide) and so many …

Good Fortune Keeping

by lshoupupdated on February 20, 2018February 21, 20188 Comments on Good Fortune Keeping

Chinese New Year is still fresh for me and I want to keep some of that good fortune with me as we move toward spring. As I was finishing a delicious meal of lo mein and reaching for my fortune cookie, a vision for a fortune keeper came to me. As a saver of …

The Wheel of Karma Drop Spindle

by Lynda Shoupupdated on January 29, 2018January 10, 201814 Comments on The Wheel of Karma Drop Spindle

Many of my projects start as ideas for one project and end up an entirely different object in the end. This project has flown far from the concept.  It all started because I was cleaning, well clearing, at the end of the year. I came upon a great stash of CDs that had really served …

Bohemian Paper Vase

by Lynda Shoupupdated on January 29, 2018December 27, 201710 Comments on Bohemian Paper Vase

I’ve been taken with the beautiful paper vases that grace the origami scene for quite some time. While I admire that stark esthetic of rice paper and black or indigo ink, anyone who has been visiting this blog won’t be surprised to know that I just couldn’t follow the trend. Mine vase was going to …

  • Realized I never posted this! Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. #christmastree #decorating #merrychristmas #pinkandwhite
  • Stacks of paper everywhere! This is a stack of mixed paper - paper to print on and paper masks to print with. Finished prints are in a pile to make into journals. Stacks of preselected papers grouped together for binding. And that’s the tip of the iceberg. I won’t even address the stacks of fabric laying about here… I see a lot of finishing things in my future. #paper #papercrafts #paperartist #paperlover #monoprinting #gelliprint #stacks #artiststacks #artistsoninstagram #studio #studiochaos #creativeprocess
  • On the top of my work basket. This is a wonderful commission for multiple patches. Stitching labyrinths also serve as meditation. #labyrinth #embroidery#meditativestitching #meditativestitching #stitchbystitch #patches #embellishment #pink
  • Gelli printing has taken over my desk space lately. So has random junk mail. So I combined the two. Those catalogs that come unbidden are now serving as the medium for my hand ripped “stencils”. Monoprinting celebrates the unique print. Paper stencils have a fairly short life span. So I get the prints I get and then move on. It yields beautiful stacks of prints, reduce refuse to get rid of and the remains of those stencils covered in multi colored splendor. I plan to incorporate them into more artwork. Watch and see. #monoprinting #printing #selfmade #stencils #tornpaper #recycle #reuse #reimagine #useitup #makesomethingoutofnothing #towardszerowaste #makersgonnamake #makermovement
  • Making ribbon rosettes in preparation for the Jane Austen’s birthday extravaganza on December 16th. I’m hosting this event/class on the @making_co app. Seeing it develop as each layer is added is so gratifying. We will be playing some Austen related games and I will be teaching how to make the ribbon rosettes. #JaneAusten #janeausten #ribbon #ribbons #rosettes #regency #regencystyle #makersgonnamake #makermovement
  • It’s been more than a week now. Didn’t think I would post about this. But @sirfernly has crossed the rainbow bridge. I am shattered. I find myself tearing up in the produce section, wanting to have him sit by my side, and thinking about checking his water. Amongst this sadness my wonderful cousins @angelvegan and @hollarious2 sent us this memorial ornament and that touched me deeply. Sometimes it is something unexpected that starts us healing. A big thank you to Dr. Lawrence at Agape Animal Hospital for his expertise in rabbit care. Bink free, Fern.
